New album and solo tour in 2013?

While Marie Fredriksson is still on tour with Roxette until September 2012, there are rumours out that we might get a new Swedish Marie album and a solo tour next year.

And this is not only a rumour spread by fans but it was Marie herself who gave that information to Roxette fans some days ago – at least she said something will happen in 2013. So far, this information is not confirmed and we don’t know anything more than that. But if only one of those two rumours is true (album and/or tour) we should feel more than happy!

Marie Fredriksson in charity calendar

Swedish photographer Caroline Roosmark who has recently taken photos of Roxette created a calendar for 2012 for charity. It’s called Women & Men 2012.

“The calendar is made on a very tight budget, none of the extras or stars get any payment, yet they never turn Caroline down, in spite of their often jam-packed schedules”, The Daily Roxette writes. Marie Fredriksson of Roxette is also participating in the calendar. The text on May’s page reads as follows: She couldn’t come along, they took away from her pearls and ribbons, all the visible signs of success. Sparrows’ eyes followed her, the birds sat in her hands. The smallest animals by the hem of her dress. A friendly light fell over the backyard and we know: soon she’s going out in the world.

The calendar is for sale at Caroline’s site, the price is 169 SEK. You may also purchase the original photos there.

New Roxette album “Charm School” in february

On February 11th, Roxette release their 8th studio album, called “Charm School”. The album provides 12 songs, the first single is called “She’s got nothing on (but the radio)” and will be released on January 10th. Airplay starts at January 4th. The tracklist of “Charm School” is:

Marie sang “Tro” in Malmö

Marie Fredriksson performed together with her husband Mikael Bolyos at the inauguration ceremony of Citytunneln, a 17-kilometer rail link between Malmö Central Station and the Öresund Bridge. Danish fan Christina Tholander recorded Marie’s performance. Enjoy!

Marie Fredriksson will perform together with her husband Micke Bolyos at the inauguration ceremony of Citytunneln, a 17-kilometer rail link between Malmö Central Station and the Öresund Bridge. As the grand finale, HM King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden will officially open the tunnel for traffic. The ceremony will be held next to the Malmö Central Station on December 4 and is free to the public.
Other artists performing at the ceremony include Nisse Hellberg, Timbuktu, and Ola Salo.

Marie joined Per at the Atlantis studio in Stockholm

Marie Fredriksson, Per Gessle and Clarence Öfwerman and Christoffer Lundquist spent the last three days in the Atlantis studio in Stockholm recording Marie’s vocals for the upcoming Roxette album. We remember that “Have a nice day” and also “Room Service” were recorded there as well. Per Gessle commented on Marie: “Marie’s voice = splendido”.
Here you can see a new picture from the studio which Per Gessle uploaded only some minutes ago on his new website on Snowfish.

Studio time is also booked for the Polar studios in Stockholm. So until now we don’t know if Marie finished her recordings or if there is more to come. If they managed to record all her parts in three days we comment on this with: Wow, that was fast.

Per Gessle speaks about Marie and Roxette

In an interview with Radio Halland Per Gessle spoke about his future plans with Roxette and Marie Fredriksson. There will be a new Roxette album in 2010 – and most probably there will be more Roxette performances next year. If it’s a tour or just a show here and there or a live performance on a festival – nothing has been announced so far. Read what Per says about Marie Fredriksson and Roxette:

Per says, that..

.. the recordings of “One Wish” and “Reveal” in 2006 didn’t feel right or THAT good and that it feels different now with the recordings of the new songs for the new album and that it feels much different and better now and that Marie changed a lot.

.. he didn’t expect such a huge response on the Night of the Proms and was overwhelmed, especially with the support in Germany.

.. Marie is more involved in the recordings now, she is more interested in Roxette and the new album than she was in 2001 with Room Service and that she is not just there to sing but is interested in working on it and brings her own ideas.

.. there was a time when he didn’t think that they will ever work together again because Marie felt so bad.

.. half of the songs are written for him, half for Marie. Marie hasn’t written anything for the album. He would like Marie to sing it all, but he thinks that’s not possible so he has to fill in here and there.

.. he sees Roxette performing again, because “that’s what we want”.

.. the US are out of reach, because they are too old and vintage. But a cover of a Rox song may climb the charts, because the songs still have power, but he is not sure that Per & Marie have it anymore…

.. they are in the studio until midsummer. Then there may be rehearsals if they decide to do concerts.

.. next year there will be nothing but Roxette.

“Kick AIDS out”-performance on YouTube

A while ago Marie Fredriksson’s first “official” performance after her illness has been uploaded to YouTube. At the “Kick AIDS out”-gala in Stockholm in December 2005 she performed “I never loved a man”. Her husband Mikael Bolyos joined her on the keyboards. Have fun watching.
